playing in the woods

Today was a teacher workday at preschool, so the kiddos were home. The weather was beautiful, and they played outside all day with the exception of naps and lunch. The backyard becomes greener every day with all the trees and plants starting to bloom. Spring is here!

Flash

Flash has not been in the best of health since the new year. I had to take him to the vet school on Monday. The hospital vet found a tumor, but he was able to successfully remove it. Flash is coming home tomorrow. He still has a lot recovery to do, but he has done much better than the docs thought he would (trying to sit up and eat in surgery recovery). Aidan has said all week “Flash is at the Dr because he is bleeding all over the place.” He actually wanted to stay home with me today so that he could go with me to visit him. Hard to explain to a 3 yr old that I had to work both before and after visiting Flash 🙂 Each time we mentioned Flash, Sam would ask for “wipies” so that she could help clean up the blood.

Flash, our sweetest, most lovable pet. I realized this week how much I love him (I have been reaching for him from bed at night and been missing him terribly).

So happy to have Flash coming home!

friends

Today, Aidan was home from preschool with a fever. He was so happy when we went to pick up Sam. I saw them out in the backyard holding hands. When I asked what they were playing, Aidan said “we are playing friends.” Sam said “yeah, friends!”
Sam was also a great sister when Aidan lost Henry the train in the backyard. She kept saying, “Henry, where are you?”
Gotta love my kiddos!

a divided family

It seems that Aidan and Sam have chosen their sides with the important basketball divide. Here is how the conversation went earlier today… Sam (prompted by dad) said “Go Duke!” and Aidan says “No, go Heels.” Sam (prompted by dad) said “Heels are yucky.” Aidan’s reply, “Heels are not yucky, Duke is yucky.”
Regardless of the cheering sides, UNC won (despite the fact that a Duke player elbowed a UNC player in the nose with only 14 seconds to play). With this win, UNC wins the ACC regular season!
I am sure Sam and daddie will have their day soon 🙂
