Today is George’s birthday. It is hard to believe that he is 7 years old. We told the kids to sing Happy Birthday to him and talked about how Sam was 2 and Aidan was 3. Sam was pretty insistent that George was also 2. Then I asked her how old daddy was, and she said “old.” When I asked how old mommy was, she said “two!” So, apparently 2 is the age to be.
Flash had his 3 month follow-up to see how he was doing with his chemo treatment. All of his labs looked good. He is a little anemic, but this was the case before his surgery and chemo. So, we only have to do another follow-up in 4 months. I feel like emailing the oncology resident at the vet school to say that he has already lived longer than she said he would (still have not forgotten how cold she was to me).
The vet also took some blood from Fred since we were concerned about his frequent eating and drinking lately. His labs did not suggest that he has diabetes or hyperthyroidism, which is what we were concerned about.
And, last but of course not least, Bear. He has been on his experimental med /vitamin regimen for 6 months now to treat his degenerative disc disease. The vet was very happy to see how he was doing (the disease is supposed to progress rapidly, so for his symptoms not to have worsened in 6 mos is great news).
George of course has no health problems, besides the fact that he smells awful 🙂
Always makes me smile knowing that our animal family is doing well!
The kids had fun hanging out at home on the 4th. Thank goodness for our shady deck… it was hot!
