Sam and I went to the Build A Bear Workshop to make a bear for her birthday. She had a blast picking out her bear, stuffing her, giving her a bath, picking out her outfit (complete with hat and shoes). We finished off our birthday outing with some cookies at the food court.
I think this might become a mother-daughter birthday tradition.
Here is a pic of Kitty Bear.
Most of you know that I support Hands to Hearts International and their work to help women and children in India and other countries. Below is information on their new baby massage training video. Please read and pass along to your friends.
I read a powerful statement recently from the director of Hands to Hearts… “after HHI training, children in orphanages die less often.” HHI can mean life for a child.. pretty amazing!
Hands to Hearts International is thrilled to announce the release of its new Baby Massage DVD (which you can purchase right now) and has released its promotional commercial on the the Internet today!
The release of this DVD is significant because it will reach mothers around the world in 19 different languages through the subtitling technology of dotSUB. This is amazing considering the amount of mothers and caregivers that it could reach.
Please Help to spread our message to thousands with a few simple clicks!
Your help to spread the word is imperative. The more views of our video on the Internet means that other people, including Main Stream Media, will have a better chance to watch it and learn about HHI’s work. With your help, we can let the world know that HHI’s “Baby Massage: Nurturing & Bonding Through Touch” DVD will be available on May 2nd. This DVD teaches the basic techniques of baby massage and about the importance of bonding, which is just as important for parents in Portland as it is for village mothers in Kenya and caregivers in China! There is a wild azalea tree that has blooms for about 2 weeks on our Wild Azalea Lane. Every year I promise that I will take a picture, and each year I get around to it when the blooms are falling off or gone. This year I did it!
Here is our wild azalea….
Our new pantry is officially open for business. It is painted and has shelves that are full of all kinds of food and other things that we used to have to keep on the top of the fridge or kitchen counter. I think this is my favorite part of the new addition! Here are before and after pics.
There is a new family member in the Shimpi family… His name is Sawyer, and we already think he is a great dog. George barked at him initially (with his tail wagging), Fred did a double take when he jumped over the fence…actually Sawywer was more interested in him than George or the kids, but only in a playful way. Sawyer was great with the kids, and this was even while he was learning how to get along with George and getting to know us. He is a super good listener, which we are hoping will rub off on George a little.
As we sat on the deck this afternoon, I felt a sort of comfort that I have not felt since Bear died.
Most importantly, our George has that happy smile back on his face b/c he has a buddy 🙂
No one will disagree that we were in dire need of rain, but it has rained for 7 consecutive days, which means the kids were going stir crazy by this afternoon. The rain had stopped, but the mud was still there. Here are my proud and muddy children.
Aidan has started picking out his outfits in the morning. While I am enjoying this new independence, some of his fashion choices are a little out of sorts. Here is the outfit today. It should be noted that this shirt was Rahul’s when he was a kid. He will probably want to wear it every day now since everyone at preschool today told him how cool he looked. Ms Noushin called him a super star 🙂
