Thanks to George W. Bush’s rebate check, we were able to purchase a canoe for some outdoor summer fun. The kids are super excited about our first adventure coming up this Sat. Sam loves her sun hat too! We are keeping our fingers crossed that the kids are ready for water fun.
Dear Aidan put a rock in his ear during nap time at school on Friday. Apparently the girls collect rocks from the playground and then put them in their cubbies for safe-keeping. Aidan’s rest spot is next to the cubbies. I guess this one really interested him. Dad tried to get it out, so did the pediatrician and ENT. No one had any luck, so today we had to go to the OR to have it surgically removed. Sam told Aidan it was dangerous to put rocks in his ears, and he has assured us he will not do it again (lets hope so!)
I finally got Bear’s urn today (I had tried to get a custom one made, but the company went out of business). I spread part of his ashes in the front yard so that he will always be out there to protect us. The remaining ashes are in an urn in the house, so that he will always be a part of our family.
I finally got around to putting up the studio wall, which was the finishing touch to the dining room. We do not have pictures in all of the frames yet. I am working on picking out the ones that are the most meaningful to our family.
I really like how it turned out.
We had plans for yesterday that got canceled at the last minute. We ended up having one of the best family days yet! We went to Jean’s Strawberry Patch to pick some strawberries and came home and made strawberry milkshakes for a special snack. Later on we all hung out on the deck and daddy and Aidan cooked some sausages and veggies for dinner. Here are some pics from our afternoon.
Our family is amazing!

Here are some pics from my garden. The first one is a Siberian iris, the second one a peony.
This was the question Aidan’s teacher asked each student during circle time yesterday. Aidan’s response… “My mommy likes to eat, but she does not like to cook. My daddy has 2 grills, one giant and one little. He cooks us spicy hot dogs on the little grill.”
Maybe I should get out the cooking class gift card that Carrie gave me for Christmas!
