I sent the Christmas tree pic of Fireball to the “your best shot” editor of the Chapel Hill News. The pic was supposed to run on Christmas Day, but there was a baby Santa featured instead (come on, Fireball is WAY cuter than a little baby dressed up as Santa!) I thought FB was not going to make the paper, but then a friend posted on my Facebook wall last night that Mr Fireball was in yesterday’s paper. We were out at the grocery store and Samantha suggested we check to see if there were any copies from yesterday. I was focused on finding the date on the paper when I heard Samantha scream “there he is!” And, sure enough there was Fireball on the front page.
Here is Fireball’s print debut –
In other news, we hosted a double sleepover last night. Aidan and Samantha’s friends Noah and Sophie came over for pizza, a movie, a ton of giggles, and late night fun.
Aidan’s iPad proved to be an entertaining device. There were many movies made, most involving burping, ninja fighting and dancing with Fireball.
Aidan and Noah plotting the night’s fun:
Sophie’s mood ring was also a hit. When I wore it, the color was blue which means happy and relaxed.
Check out Samantha’s color:
The meaning: deep heartfelt contemplation, sincere, thoughtful, sensitive emotional serenity, etc. Yep, that pretty much sums up Samantha.
The sleepover gang:
Fun was had by all, maybe a little too much fun. Aidan did not wake up for the day until almost 11am (he says he and Noah stayed up all night). I took all electronic devices from them at 1:30am, and did not hear anything after that, so who knows how long they stayed awake. I think Aidan is still listening to their videos tonight, cracking up laughing each time he watches.
There have been a few posts here about Samantha’s science fair project: clicker training Fireball to ring a bell. She has had so much fun with her project and wants to train FB to do more tricks!
Aidan and daddy worked on his project the other day: creating a Maglev train. Check out the final product – a levitating train! Magnets are super fun.
Aidan wanted to include a video about Maglev trains (thanks Nana for the facts from the All About Trains book :-). Watch and learn, I sure did.
We finished the display boards today. I am super proud of our final products. The only step left – research journals.
We tested out Aidan’s volcano kit today. Check it out –
Santa made it to our house last night. Samantha’s note helped a little…they came down at 5:30am, so we got a little extra time to sleep 🙂
On Aidan’s list: a Norfolk and Western HO scale train and Angry Birds Knock on Wood game. He was speechless when he opened his train present.
Before he played with it, he found the EZ lube and got it ready to go on the track. He does take good care of his trains.
Samantha’s list: iPod touch, American Girl doll and feather hair extensions. Here she is taking a picture of Chloe. She declared we all have our own technology now.
Aidan got some Legos from Kevin and Carrie and another one from Santa. We call him the master Lego dude…he can put together any and all Lego creations.
Mom and dad got some stocking stuffers, but our present was the paved driveway (definitely would not come in Santa’s sleigh 🙂
Rahul snapped this pic of me and Fireball while we were watching A Christmas Story after our holiday lunch. I do love this little dude.
A great Christmas at our house. Now we have a week to play with all the new toys before going back to school. Fun times ahead!
We had lunch with Kevin, Carrie, Samuel and Nana today. The cousins always have fun hanging out together.
Samantha and Nana had a blast playing with her new Figit named Sage. She sings, tells jokes, dances, kisses…I could go on.
Aidan was in shock when he saw his new volcano kit…a *real* volcano making kit that makes 10, yes 10, volcanoes that will erupt like Mt Vesuvius (according to Aidan).
Other news from today: Samantha is leaving a special note for Santa tonight. Check it out.
Now for more of an explanation…
In a selfish attempt to sleep past 4am, we explained that Santa sent us an email saying that we were at the end of the route this year and to make sure to tell the kids they would need to stay in their rooms until the sun came up to be sure that Santa had gotten to our house. Samantha had lots of questions about how she would know when she could come downstairs, so she wrote Santa the note to tell him to open her door when he leaves. This way she knows if he has been to our house. Crossing our fingers this strategy helps us get a few additional hours of sleep 🙂
It stopped raining today, so we finally got some outside time on the new driveway. Basketball goal assembled. Check out Rahul’s shot.
P Pops and Jen came yesterday and had Target gift cards for the kids. They were dying to go shopping today and both wanted “expensive scooters.” Evil mom and dad just got the “regular ones.” Samantha picked the graffiti scooter – 3 pieces of chalk that draw as you scooter.
Aidan picked the light up wheels scooter. It was harder to get a picture of his scooter, but this one is kind of cool.
Lastly, the kids got notes from our friend Wendy this afternoon. Rahul stressed it was a joke, and the kids loved the potty humor.
Rahul took the kids to see Santa yesterday morning while I was in Kernersville getting a hair cut and having lunch with Nana. The plan was to get to the mall when it opened at 9am so they could be the first ones in line when Santa arrived at 10am. Thank goodness for iPads and iPhones…haha.
Here are pics of the kids telling Santa what they want for Christmas. Only 2 more days until the big guy comes with gifts 🙂
