Fireball caught his first mole this afternoon. We gave him lots and lots of praise and laughed as he tossed his catch up in the air and then pounced on it repeatedly for about 45 mins. I reminded him that there are hundreds of moles in the back yard that work hard to dig tunnels and kill my precious green grass. So, 1 down and hundreds to go. Keep up the good work FB!

Aidan’s first pinewood derby race was tonight. I am thinking this is the most exciting Cub Scouts event of the year. Daddy and Aidan have been working so hard on the car and were eager to race it!
I am proud to report that the Viper Racer came in 1st place in 3 out of 8 heats. And, in 2nd place for the other 5. I am sure daddy learned some tips to make the car faster for next year. Both boys (dad and Aidan 🙂 had a blast. I do not think I have ever seen Aidan so tired…and happy.
So, here is a video of the Viper Racer winning one of the heats (dark blue car at the end).
And, here is a tired and proud Aidan with his car.
Most of you know that Ginny and I submitted a book proposal to Social Thinking Publications. We heard today that we are officially “in negotiations” for a book contract! To say we are excited would be an understatement. I blogged about my feelings of gratefulness on our Teach Social First blog, to read that post, click here.
More details as we learn more about our new endeavor!
We had our first snow of the season last night. Not even an inch, but the kids were super excited to get outside and play at 6:30am. Check it out –
We had other plans for the day. The less exciting – hair cuts at Great Clips. The more exciting – seeing Star Wars Episode 1 in 3D!
Both kids loved the movie (even though Rahul says it is one of the worst episodes 🙂 Aidan has obviously really been reading all those Star Wars books in his room. He told us everything that was going to happen approximately 3 seconds before it happened…haha.
Fun day. Back to work and school tomorrow.
Most of our recent Saturdays have been spent going to basketball games. Aidan and Samantha are both playing and learning a lot. Aidan’s team has really struggled against teams with players that are a)gigantic b)older and c)have been playing basketball for a while. Today’s game was special because the Pistons played the Nuggets (the other Perry Harrison team).
I was worried that it would be a blow out and Aidan would be upset losing to a team of his buddies. But, I am proud to report that the Pistons played the best game they have played all season! They went after the ball, made it a close game, and best of all played with heart. The Nuggets won in the end, but Aidan was a good sport about it which made me a proud mom. Now, is he the next Michael Jordan? I can safely answer no. But he is learning a lot about the fundamentals of the sport, and even more important than that, how to be a team player.
Samantha is a super great hustler. In the YMCA league, the girls get colored wrist bands to help them keep track of who they are supposed to guard. She takes this job very seriously, even when she is on offense. Rahul and I have both tried to explain that she needs to be on the look out for someone to pass her the ball when she is on offense. I guess she will figure it out in time 🙂 She is also learning a lot about the game and having fun in a less competitive environment, which she loves.
Enough about basketball, now for the funny. Fireball has been spending a lot of time outside during the day. His favorite activity: chasing squirrels up trees. He will sit at the bottom and watch them with his tail swishing side to side for what seems like forever. Check it out –
