I heard about this book on Facebook a while back and decided to pick up a copy. For a full review of the book, click here.
The story is very powerful, and to call it moving would not do it justice. I read one quote over the Thanksgiving holiday that resonated with me as an adoptive mom.
“She would persevere. I had no doubt that she had the power within her to make her wishes come true. We all do. The journey to becoming her mother had shown me, beyond any doubt, the power that each of us has inside us. We have the ability to make things happen. We can shape our destinies. Even when others scoff at our attempts, we can still do difficult things and travel to unknown places and return both stronger and wiser. We can trust our own strength… We have to believe that within us is the greatest power on this earth: the power of a mother’s love.”
So true. I will now go get my kiddos from school and hug them extra because they were destined to be mine.
Yesterday was the GOTR 5K. I had so much fun coaching the girls this fall! It was amazing to see all of them meet their goal of running a 5K. Here is a link to all the pics, and a special one of me and my super, speedy daughter post-race 🙂
We are in Maryland this Thanksgiving and have a lot to be grateful for. First of all, these 2 kiddos:
We had some great food (this was Rahul’s plate) and Aidan stole some extra cranberry sauce. It is his favorite holiday food.
Thankfully, and I really mean that, the Redskins beat the Cowboys. What would we do without RG3?
I have been playing around with the camera and the different settings. My goal is to not be a point and shoot photographer with this camera. Check out some of my leaf pics:
Now for more pics of the kids at the party barn. It was a little sad for me to see the party barn is such bad shape. Back in the mid to late 90s, there were many parties held in that barn. Poor Bear and Flash would bark like crazy when they happened. But, on the positive side I learned how to use the aperture priority setting.
Aidan made his first A on a 3rd grade math assessment today. I think preferential seating during the test and the promise of brownies helped a lot 🙂
All jokes aside, Aidan was so proud of his test grade. I am hoping this will help boost his confidence about school.
Also, I got a cool yawning pic of Fireball. Check it out. I do love my new camera (and my photogenic kitties).
I snapped a few pics of the kitties this afternoon since they were inside on this cold and dreary day. Check them out –
Can you tell I love our new camera????
