First the bad. Smooch has ringworm, probably got it from puppy camp. The vet thinks she is getting all of these infections because her immune system is immature. Hand washing will be critical so that no one else gets it. Because of her size, she will need to go to the vet twice a week for the next 3 weeks for lyme sulfur dips. Plus daily topical medication. Sigh.
Fast forward to this morning. I am washing all of Smooch’s bedding (to get rid of the ringworm) and see her with a lawn irrigation cover in her mouth! I ran out and prevented her from destroying the whole system. But I was DONE. Her health and behavioral issues have been so much for our family. Then I remembered my sweet Samantha. She loves that dog more than anything in this world. I could see her as a vet saying “I remember my first puppy having all kinds of health issues, just hang in there. It will get better.” And we have always had a saying in this family, once in the family always in the family.
