At Samantha’s new school, they light a candle on special occasions and share what they are grateful for. Samantha has been talking about this activity and how she wants to do it at home. Fast forward to today when Rahul picked her up from school and had to make a trip to the Wal-Mart for some supplements for Smooch and her UTI issues. She found a candle there and busted in the house with it in her hands to show me.
We had to wait until after dinner, but once we were all done eating we each (carefully) held the candle and shared something we were grateful for. Samantha started and Aidan was last, which means he got to blow out the candle.
I really like this tradition and hope we keep it up. It is so easy to get caught up in all the things we need to do and not take a moment to reflect on the good things in our lives. I will also add that both of my kiddos (unprompted) said they were grateful for their new schools. Life is good 🙂
