Thanksgiving

We started the day with the Carolina Friends Turkey Trot 5K. Samantha and Aidan had personal best times (mom and dad just ran for the fun of it after the hard race we had on Saturday). The Brothers family ran with us, and we all got coffee after to warm up….it was 30 degrees at the start of the race…brrr cold!

Mema and PPops came later and I started cooking our Thanksgiving feast. Here is my turkey. And I am proud to report that my turkey was tasty!

Last but not least, a pic of me and my soul mate and best friend. I am so glad we have each other. We make a great team!

my new best friend…

I picked up my Stihl BR 200 this morning after my work out. OMG, I cannot believe I have been blowing leaves with something other than this amazing thing all these years on Wild Azalea Lane!

Image

There are a few garden tools that I have come to love over the yearsΒ  – the garden weasel (a Valentine’s Day gift…one of my favorites!) and the auger. I will add my new leaf blower to my list of tools to love. I blew the leaves off the back deck and the entire back yard in less than 30 minutes!

Good times in the landscaping world on Wild Azalea Lane.

Instagram Sunday

I spent over 2 hours blowing and raking leaves this afternoon. Ugh. I decided we need more high tech equipment (i.e., gas leaf blower). After some research, I have a Stihl model in mind that is powerful, lightweight, and easy to start. Here is my leaf blowing buddy from today (she will be disappointed that there will be no cords to try and steal from me in the future πŸ™‚ )

Samantha and I went grocery shopping for Thanksgiving. Aidan found the can of cranberry sauce immediately and begged to have some for a snack.

Samantha has been learning about Advent at RCIA. She is also learning the Lord’s Prayer. I got the requested Advent candle wreath, and we are learning about when to light the candles. We have a seriously budding Catholic in our house.

Lastly, dinner on the fire pit! We finally got the grill grate for the fire pit. It was not easy with the sunset early and potatoes that took longer to cook than anticipated. Still, super tasty!

5K

Some of the Girls TALK girls ran the Into the Woods 5K this morning. Rahul and Aidan joined in on the fun too. No pics of Rahul because he went out with the competitive runners (and he finished strong, even with a trail portion of the race at the end). Here are some pics of our race –

And then there was Aidan who ran solo but was determined to outrace a middle school girl, and he did. Check out his finish πŸ™‚

Happy Birthday Smooch!

It has been a challenging first year with our giant dog baby, but she is super sweet and loves Samantha more than life itself. We love her too πŸ™‚

Today is Tuesday, so she got to go to Companion Camp for the day and made a new friend….ummm boyfriend πŸ™‚ She always comes home from camp happy and tired – 2 great things for a puppy!

When I posted this cute b-day pic on Facebook, I did add that I hope this next year is one with fewer words and phrases like: leave it, UTIs, hooded vulva, ringworm. I think we are on the right track with our Smoochie. Help us blow out her first birthday candle with us!
