Smooch waited and waited for her human sister to come home today.
It was great to have the kids back home 🙂 Samantha and I got back into our nighttime routine of reading the Little House on the Prairie books.
Aidan resumed his role as the creator of the Star Wars Millennium Falcon.
Life is back to normal…..life is good 🙂
Now that we all have updated passports, it is time to start planning our trip to Guatemala. Here is the plan so far: fly into Guatemala City, spend the night, have breakfast and go to church with Samantha’s foster family, then heading to Antigua for the rest of our trip.
We found a great house in Antigua. Centrally located but also private. Here is the view from the rooftop terrace. Breathtaking!
We know that we want to spend one day hiking the Pacaya Volcano. Apparently you can roast marshmellows at the top from old magma.
For now that is all we have planned. We want one day to just relax and walk around Antigua. We might take a day trip to Lake Atitlan, or go to the coast….the house we are staying at has an owner or house manager that helps you with day tours, so we are hoping to get more guidance with good local activities for kids.
It feels like it is going to really happen now….started to get excited!
My start up disk is almost full *again” so I have deleted over 12,000 iPhotos…now there are just under 11,000 keepers. My name is Kristan and I have a problem with photography. Sigh. During this purging process (after a lunch and loooong nap with my hubby 🙂 ) I stumbled on these old pics of the kids and have decided to do a TBT post each week (Throw Back Thursday). Here are 2 from 2008 for today.
It is hard to believe these pics are 5 years old! Thank goodness for the photo memories.
What a great Christmas Day, even if it started at 5:15am 🙂
First, the pets and their gifts.
Now for the *big* gifts…. Legos and a Zoomer pet.
Samantha also asked for a personal gift….a baby blanket like the one she came home with from Guatemala (hers was lost on a Disney trip a while back).
Also in the stockings? Some old school candy and Bullmastiff things 🙂
Samantha gave both parents love notes like this one….what a sweet lady!
And, I have saved the best for last….the Xbox One!!!
I feel so grateful to have such a wonderful family!
First, a present from one of my favorite baristas at Starbucks….
See, Starbucks will be closed tomorrow and I will not be able to live without my 2pm Cool Lime Refresher. Taylor stocked me with the green coffee bean juice to make my own!
The Brothers family came over later on for some fire pit fun. Smooch got to hang out with their dog Tula.
Cindy and Samantha talked politics….interesting!
Tula chased poor Banjo beyond the Invisible Fence flags…imagine his surprise as he slowed down but Tula kept on coming….up a tree Banjo went and stayed until Samantha used our camping holiday gift from the Brothers to locate Banjo 🙂
Aidan got an early Lego present today and shockingly it is already constructed!
Lastly, Samantha lit the last candle of advent. The light of the world.
Nana, Kevin and Samuel came to celebrate with us today. The kids have not seen Nana in a really long time, so they were really excited for her visit.
Rahul also took a holiday pic of Samantha which will serve as her school pic for this school year. I love it! Those curls always amaze me 🙂
Samantha’s friend Ella came over b/c both of her parents had to work today and they could not find a sitter. She was such a gracious guest. It is such a relief for her to have such nice friends.
Now we are all watching one of favorite holiday movies….
We celebrated the winter solstice with the Brothers family. They invited us over to make pizzas in their mud oven!
The pizza was yummy, as was the company. The kids had a blast hanging out too 🙂
What a fun way to kick off our holiday break!
