Mt Rogers Recreation Area, VA

Mt Rogers was our destination for this weekend’s 4th of July camping adventure with the Brothers family. The only downside to our trip – over 4 hrs each way with tons of switchbacks. Hard under normal circumstances, even more challenging with a camper in tow. But, we made it and had a BLAST!

The kids got to canoe, bike….oh and we all got to fish, hike, visit a local winery, and just hang out and have fun!

Some pics of the fun –

DSC_5313 DSC_5317Now for the big news….my potty tent. Background info: our camper came with a portable potty but Rahul thinks it is gross. I do not want to pee in the woods in the middle of the night or walk to the bath house alone at 3am. The solution – portable potty in a tent!

DSC_5320We all took a hike on the Virginia Creeper Trail. For more about the trail, click here. Smooch was the one who was the most tired at the end.

DSC_5356 DSC_5354 DSC_5359 DSC_5372I am proud to report that I was the only person to catch a fish. Yep. And, it was probably the world’s smallest trout….but it still counts and I refuse to call it a minnow 🙂

photoAt the Creeper Trail we got a sticker to add to our collection for the camper. It is the VCT one. The goal is to get a sticker for every place we camp. What a fun thing to do!
