The Grand Canyon – take two

Rahul and I hiked the Grand Canyon in 2001. It was the vacation when Rahul popped the big question. We hiked The Bright Angel Trail (a total of 13 miles). The sign said do not hike to the river and back in one day. But we only had one day at the Grand Canyon (and I *had* to see the Colorado River), so we did it anyway. OMG, we were DYING on that hike back up. We drove by the McDonalds we visited after that hike for Super sized everything on our way into the Visitor Center and had a chuckle. I don’t think either of us has ever eaten more junk food than we did that day. What a fun story to share with the kiddos πŸ™‚

Today we decided on a short and strenuous trail. The Kaibab Trail.

Aidan was our pace setter. In general, you should allow double the amount of time to hike back up. It took us LESS time to get back up, really. But dang, we were pooped. We called Aidan our little mountain goat!
My favorite place was the overlook at Cedar Ridge. We got some great pics here.

It is 6pm and I am sooo tired. I want so badly to stay up and cheer for the Wisconsin Badgers, but it is not looking like it is going to happen. Fingers crossed that they get the win they deserve!
