Samantha is taking a journal writing class as a first year middle schooler. She has to write every day at school and then a certain number of times outside of class each week. Her teacher shared with all the parents that the journal is supposed to be private and students do not have to share with teachers or parents. The goal is for students to have a safe place to write about their feelings. Samantha shared her journal with me, at least for now. And for this, I am eternally grateful.
She named her journal Dear Sylvia Bennett, after my mom and wants to write about things that happen this year that her grandmother will miss because she is no longer with us.
I am so glad she has this experience to learn to write about her feelings. Just another reason why I love Carolina Friends School.
